Wendy D has 20 years photographic experience. Her passion for photography took on a new life when she moved her studio into the ARC (Artist Resource Centre) in 2002. Surrounded by artists of all types she was inspired to take her vision in a whole new direction. Prompted by her neighbor writer/director, Adrien van Viersen, Wendy undertook her first role as Director of Photography with Brenda Painter’s short film ‘Tit for Tat’ (2005). Her experience was so amazing, when Adrien van Viersen asked her to be DOP on his latest short film ‘Pig Tale’ she jumped at the chance. ‘Pig Tale’ gave Wendy the opportunity to explore her affinity with light in a whole new way. “Lighting is crucial to setting mood and atmosphere in an image. It’s similar with moving pictures, but lighting has to compliment not only the pure visual aspect but also the evolving story.”
