Michael Meinhardt is a Vancouver-based writer/director/producer. In 2003, he founded Nostalgic Pictures in order to create exciting, cutting edge films. Nostlagic Pictures has recently finished its ambitious Directors Guild of Canada Kickstart film, Nostalgia Boy. It stars Dustin Milligan (The Messengers, The Butterfly Effect 2), Sonja Bennet (Masters of Horror, Catch & Release) and Jillian Fargey (Last Wedding, Protection). It has competed in over ten film festivals world-wide, including Rhode Island and Palm Springs Short Film Festival.
Michael previously produced the short film No Backing Out, which won three awards including 'Best Film' at the Cinemuerte Film Festival, judged by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City). Nostalgic Pictures also took home the 'Best in Category' and 'Best in Show' prizes at the 2005 Great Canadian Commercial Contest. This commercial is currently airing nationally on Global TV, and has been picked up by Alliance Atlantis Canada for play before its feature films. Additionally, the short fillm, The Shell, is currently being submitted to film festivals, and Paradise Redrawn starring Sarah Lind (A Simple Curve, Fetching Cody) and Pam Hyatt (Replicant, Dead Zone), is in post production.
